چکیده

Qualitative spatial relations have been argued to play an important role in the interpretation and analysis of sketch maps as typically only rough qualitative categories are preserved in these kinds of externalized spatial representations. In this paper, we look at processing sketch maps from a qualitative spatial reasoning (QSR) perspective. In particular in focus is the matching problem of finding the correct correspondences between a sketch and another representation (e.g., a georeferenced data set or another sketch). We identify involved subtasks, such as qualification, constraint propagation, consistency checking, matching and merging, and how support for these tasks is realized in our QSR toolbox SparQ. Moreover, we report on a case study in which the different SparQ services are combined into a prototype system for matching sketches of street networks to OpenStreetMap data.

A Nonlinear Grayscale Morphological and Unsupervised method for Human Facial Synthesis Based on an Example Image

Human facial generation of example image is used as a requirement for biometric applications for the purpose of identifying individuals. In this paper, face generation consists of three main steps. In the first step, detection of significant lines and edges of the example image are carried out using nonlinear grayscale morphology. Then, hair areas are identified from the face of sample. The fin...

Generic Sketch-Based Retrieval Learned without Drawing a Single Sketch

We cast the sketch-based retrieval as edge-map matching. A shared convolutional network is trained to extract descriptors from edge maps and sketches, which are treated as a special case of edge maps. The network is fine-tuned solely from edge maps of landmark images. The training images are acquired in a fully unsupervised manner from 3D landmark models obtained by an automated structurefrom-m...

Qualitative Representations of Extended Spatial Objects in Sketch Maps

With the advent ofVolunteeredGeographic Information (VGI) the amount and accessibility of the spatial information such as sketched information produced by layperson increased drastically. In many geo-spatial applications, sketch maps are considered an intuitive user interaction modality. In sketch maps, the spatial objects and their relationships enable users to communicate and reason about the...

RCC11: A Finer Topological Representation for the Alignment of Regions in Sketch Maps

During the last two decades, dozens of qualitative representations have been proposed. These representations are motivated by a wide variety of applications of spatial data processing such as Geographical Information System (GIS), robotic navigation, and high level vision. For topological reasoning, the Region Connected Calculus (RCC) is perhaps the best-known formalism. The two algebras, RCC5 ...

Spatial Rules for Capturing Qualitatively Equivalent Configurations in Sketch maps

Sketch maps are an externalization of an individual’s mental images of an environment. The information represented in sketch maps is schematized, distorted, generalized, and thus processing spatial information in sketch maps requires plausible representations based on human cognition. Typically only qualitative relations between spatial objects are preserved in sketch maps, and therefore proces...
